Anzac Day 2016: Lest we forget

22 April 2016

On Monday 25 April we reflect on bravery and sacrifice of the many Australians who have served in wartime.

At various points in the Australian Curriculum, students learn about our country’s experiences in wartime and the causes and impacts of war on the battlefield and on the home front.

Lest we forget.

NAPLAN 2016 is next month

12 April 2016

The annual National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) tests will be held from 10 to 12 May 2016.

NAPLAN is an important tool for parents, educators and the public to see if Australia’s children are meeting essential literacy and numeracy standards. It is a point-in-time snapshot assessment of students’ achievements in these important areas.

The best preparation for NAPLAN is to focus on the curriculum. What students are tested on in NAPLAN is what they have learnt in the classroom. Now that the Australian Curriculum has been implemented in all states and territories, NAPLAN has been aligned to the Australian Curriculum: English and the Australian Curriculum: Mathematics.

Information specifically for parents and carers can be found in the 2016 NAPLAN information brochure for parents and carers (PDF 128 kb).
